So I had to find something to use off-site, that fit my personal budget (i.e., free- since the firm already paid for an office suite.), and could deal with M$ Office formats- both import and export. And it'd complain if I tried to use it "off line", etc. and was worse whenever I had to work anywhere else. and between macros, VB scripting, and stuff, it became essentially impossible for me to productively use the firm's M$ Word outside of the office- even with a dedicated T1 line and low latency, it sucked. were and remain available for my use, but over time our firm got serious about document management/sharing/etc. Lemme 'splain- I'm a not-currently-really-practicing patent attorney (but still member of the bar etc.) and began working remotely from my firm maybe 7 years ago. #Libreoffice or openoffice fullThere are functional differences and a little learning curve for M$ Office users, but it's not that big a problem and between the manuals/help and google folks ill be at full productivity pretty soon. They've gotten much better since I first started using them, and I think at least these two programs in Libre Office are very good and can fully replace their M$ counterparts. I can't really address the spreadsheet, etc., functionality- I mostly just use the word processing and occasional presentation/slides (like powerpoint).
